Samsung's new ALoP design for telephoto camera modules allows for brighter lenses while reducing the overall module size, enhancing low-light camera performance.
Unlike conventional designs that increase height for a brighter lens, ALoP keeps module height down by placing the lens array on top of the prism.
The ALoP design results in a thinner footprint, being 22% shorter than traditional periscope setups, which is beneficial for smartphone camera aesthetics.
While no release date is confirmed, the new technology is expected to debut with the upcoming Galaxy S25 series.
