"Apple recently confirmed it will use Google's Gemini to power Siri, along with Gemini models and Google Cloud tech to build its own foundational models. A new report now highlights what to expect from the partnership. While Apple confirmed that Gemini models will run on-device and support Private Cloud Compute, it shared no further details. The report adds that Apple can request changes from Google to the Gemini model and also fine-tune it independently to deliver responses in its preferred manner. According to the report, responses from the Gemini-based Siri prototype contain no Google or Gemini branding."
"Gemini-powered Siri is also expected to offer actual answers instead of providing links for general knowledge queries, the report noted. The revamped Siri is also said to offer better emotional support by offering improved conversational responses to users. Lastly, the new Siri is expected to handle unclear queries better. Instead of defaulting to "I don't understand," the Gemini-powered version will attempt to interpret the request and offer a more useful response."
