North Sunnyvale bike path approved but lacks funds - San Jose Spotlight
Briefly

The Sunnyvale City Council voted 6-1 to install raised multi-use paths alongside Tasman Drive from Fair Oaks Avenue to Vienna Drive, amidst divided resident opinions. The project, costing $14-$17 million, will reduce traffic lanes from two to one in each direction. Concerns were raised about the potential negative effects on emergency vehicle response times. Although the aim is to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists, the city has yet to identify funding for the project.
Angela Obeso, the city's interim transportation and traffic manager, said bringing the road down to one lane and installing a raised pathway may increase response times for emergency vehicles, as drivers won't be able to get out of their way.
City Manager Tim Kirby stated, "We need to improve the safety for pedestrians and cyclists on this roadway, but we also need to maintain our response times and make sure we can adequately serve the community."
