Huawei to bring pricey trifold smartphone to world market
Briefly

Huawei's Mate XT smartphone, the world's first commercially available trifold device, is set for a global launch after its unveiling in China last year. Priced around €3,000, the Mate XT significantly surpasses competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6. It operates on Huawei's own EMUI 14.2 system due to US sanctions that limit access to Google services, which may deter potential buyers. The phone features an innovative design with a 10.2-inch display when fully unfolded and boasts robust specifications including a Kirin 9010 processor, 16 GB of memory, and a 50 MP camera.
In terms of specifications, the Mate XT has the equivalent of a 6.4in screen with a resolution of 2232 x 1008 pixels when closed up, expanding to a 10.2in display with 2232 x 3184 pixels when fully unfolded.
The Mate XT was unveiled in China last year, billed by the company as the world's first commercially available trifold smartphone, featuring an extra hinge so that it can fold up into a kind of Z shape.
A spokesperson told us that this is likely to be on a country-by-country basis.
The device is likely to cost at least €3,000, making it substantially more costly than most other smartphones.
