Google has introduced a new feature called Identity Check, aiming to enhance Android security by requiring biometric authentication for sensitive device settings when outside trusted locations. This measure prevents unauthorized access by thieves, allowing users to maintain control over critical functions like PIN changes, biometrics, and the Find My Device service. Initially available on Pixel phones running Android 15 and Samsung devices with One UI 7, Android OEM partners will also adopt this feature in the future, further bolstering device security across the platform.
Introducing the Identity Check feature will ensure that users must authenticate with biometrics to alter critical settings on their devices outside trusted locations.
Identity Check will help secure accounts by blocking thieves from changing PINs, accessing Passkeys, or disabling essential security features like Find My Device.
