Apple announces Final Cut Camera 2.0 with ProRes RAW, genlock support
"With Final Cut Camera 2.0, users on the iPhone 17 Pro series gain support for ProRes RAW and genlock, while the entire iPhone 17 lineup benefits from new manual controls for the front camera. Apple has included open gate recording support in the new update, which lets users record footage using the entire camera sensor at resolutions higher than DCI 4K. This means you can record in horizontal or vertical orientation without having to turn the phone."
"The update will also bring support for Apple Log 2 that's available on the iPhone 17 Pro models. Users will also be able to enable Timecode options and shoot videos using the telephoto camera in ProRes at up to 4K60 fps. Final Cut Camera 2.0 is set to arrive on the App Store later this month as a free download."
Final Cut Camera 2.0 adds professional video features tailored for the iPhone 17 Pro and broader iPhone 17 lineup. The iPhone 17 Pro series gains ProRes RAW capture and genlock support, while all iPhone 17 models receive manual front-camera controls. Open-gate recording enables using the full sensor at resolutions above DCI 4K, allowing horizontal or vertical capture without rotating the device. iPhone 17 Pro models gain Apple Log 2 and Timecode options. The telephoto camera can record in ProRes up to 4K60 fps. Final Cut Camera 2.0 will be available free on the App Store later this month.
