OpenAI will deploy over 6 gigawatts of AMD Instinct MI450 series GPUs under a multi-year agreement, with deployment beginning in the second half of 2026. AMD will serve as OpenAI's core strategic compute partner and will cooperate on building key infrastructure to meet rising demands from AI applications. OpenAI is set to receive over 160 million shares of AMD stock contingent on specified milestone achievements. The agreement complements a separate Nvidia partnership that includes a $100 billion investment and deployment of 10 gigawatts of Nvidia systems, expanding OpenAI's multi-vendor compute capacity.
