Michael Aswell returned to featherweight to face Lucas Almeida at UFC Rio after debuting on short notice at 155lbs. Almeida entered seeking a bounce-back after a split-decision loss to Danny Silva. Aswell pressed from the opening bell and landed repeated right hands that dropped Almeida multiple times, despite Almeida's effective leg kick early. Almeida rose each time but appeared dazed and failed to defend adequately as Aswell landed elbows and continued strikes. The fight ended by TKO at 1:42 of the first round. Aswell improved to 11-3 with his first UFC win and requested a spot on the final UFC PPV of 2025 in Las Vegas.
