Hardwick, stepping in on short notice for Fares Ziam, managed momentary counters including a pair of left hands but was repeatedly dropped by leg strikes. One kick dropped him and left him hobbling; another brutal leg kick rendered him unable to stand. The referee stopped the contest at 3:21 of the first round, awarding Fernandes a TKO victory by leg kicks. Hardwick required time to recover before leaving the cage.
