UFC 318: Dustin Poirier Reveals What He Wants His Story to Be
Briefly

Dustin Poirier retired from mixed martial arts after competing at UFC 318 against Max Holloway. Despite preparing for a storybook finish, he lost by decision in a closely contested match. Throughout the fight, Poirier felt the rounds were closer than the judges' scorecards indicated, expressing surprise at the final score. He accepted the decision graciously, reflecting on his performance and career path. Now, he aims to define his legacy beyond fighting, valuing his contributions to the sport and the experiences he gained.

"Being in the fight, it felt like a lot closer than that. When I heard the judge's 49-whatever, I was like 'no way, it was closer than that.'"
"Like the man says, it is what it is." Poirier seemed to accept the outcome of the fight, acknowledging the judges' decisions.
"Looking back, hindsight is always 20-20, but I thought I fought smart. I tried to win, man, I really did." Poirier reflected on his performance.
