Sean O'Malley Will Consider Retirement if Losing Streak Continues
"I'm gonna go out there and take care of Song, take care of Petr. I'm gonna retire. This might be the last Suga year ever. Go 2-0,"
"... It's so pointless to predict what I'm gonna do in the next two to five years. I go out there and lose, and then lose, I'm done with this s-t. Ideally, I got out there and take care of Song and get that Petr fight. And see how life goes after."
Sean O'Malley is scheduled to fight rising bantamweight contender Yadong Song at UFC 324 on Jan. 24 in Las Vegas. O'Malley (18-3) aims for a win over Song to earn a title shot against Petr Yan. O'Malley suggested he might retire if he defeats Yan, and also warned he will retire if he continues to lose repeatedly. A friend referenced Tony Ferguson's decline from a 12-fight winning streak to an eight-fight losing streak and eventual departure from the UFC. O'Malley previously won the bantamweight title from Aljamain Sterling, defended against Marlon Vera, and lost the title to Merab Dvalishvili, failing to reclaim it in a rematch.
