Noche UFC: Kelvin Gastelum Admits Weight Miss "Spoils the Win A Little Bit"
""This is what I'm supposed to do. This is what I've been doing for over a decade. I expected no less,""
""I like these four weeks, because we just went straight into the grind. We devised a plan to lose the weight, unfortunately I wasn't able to fulfill that plan, and it kind of spoils the win here a little bit,""
""I've been wanting to fight on a Noche card for a long, long time," stated Gastelum. "Representing my Mexican heritage is something I've done for a long, long time and finally got it done today.""
""I still feel like I have some things to offer. For the next few years at least, I can compete at this level. I still feel there's some things I can do at this level.""
Kelvin Gastelum secured a unanimous decision victory over Dustin Stoltzfus at Noche UFC, returning to the win column after a loss to Joe Pyfer. He missed weight for the short-notice fight and acknowledged that failing to hit the scales spoiled the win somewhat. Gastelum said he preferred a four-week camp and that the team devised a weight plan that he could not fully execute. He expressed satisfaction at competing on a Noche card and representing his Mexican heritage. Gastelum remains active and expects to continue competing at middleweight for the next several years.
