UFC featherweight Mairon Santos, following his lightweight victory over Sodiq Yusuff, expressed his preference for fighting at 155 pounds rather than making the grueling cut to featherweight. Santos, who is currently undefeated in the UFC, found the weight cut to lightweight much easier and enjoyable. He mentioned feeling strong and confident in the cage against Yusuff, noting that the size difference wasn't as daunting as he expected. Santos aims to take a break to recover but is excited about the possibility of returning to compete in Brazil in late 2025.
"So much easier. It was so easy oh my God. I don't even like to remember my cut to 45," Santos laughed during his post-fight scrum.
"I think so because I really like it. I felt good, I felt strong... When I looked (at him) on the other side of the cage, I was like, 'this guy's not bigger than me.'"
"In the end of the year maybe Brazil. I heard that's going to be a card there. It would be nice to fight in Brazil, my hometown."
