At Little Caesars Arena, Joe George Jr. collapsed in his corner after the first round of his light heavyweight fight against Atif Oberlton. The bout took place on the Claressa Shields vs. Franchon Crews-Dezurn undercard. The fighters butted heads during the opening round. After the round ended, George fell out of his stool while sitting in his corner as he prepared to receive instructions. George regained consciousness but was unable to continue, and Oberlton was declared the winner by TKO. Oberlton embraced George before he was taken from the ring on a stretcher and said he wanted to ensure George was safe.
