Ronan Dunne faced a challenging season and endured a significant crash at the 5th round of the Downhill World Cup, which required airlifting for safety. Despite not suffering any broken bones, he was left with bruises and a valuable lesson regarding recovery. Crashes are expected in downhill racing, and Dunne expressed a proactive mindset towards managing fears and uncertainties. He accepted the incident, regretting the missed opportunity for the upcoming World Cup while remaining optimistic about future races, particularly looking forward to Hardline.
I know there will be more crashes in my career, but I don't dwell on that. I think that will make it a bit easier to keep the fear from creeping in, and I'll know what to expect for the next one, allowing me to manage the downtime a bit better. When I first came home, I just had no idea what the recovery process would look like. I didn't know which doctors to call or what specialists I should see, but now I do.
Felt like we were on for a good one this week, pushed for it and messed up nothing broken just a few bruises but also pretty gutted to say that I'll be missing Andorra this week first time missing a world cup for me, gonna miss the lads and racing - Massive thanks to everyone for the messages and support. Onto Hardline in 3 weeks.
