Deiveson Figueiredo discussed his recent fight against Cory Sandhagen, explaining that a serious infection and a jaw displacement nearly caused him to withdraw. Despite his health challenges, he chose to fight out of respect for the UFC and fans. Reflecting on the match, Figueiredo acknowledged that his decision to grapple in risky positions contributed to his defeat, asserting that sticking to his initial gameplan could have resulted in a different outcome. Although his knee injury appeared serious after the fight, he believed it wasn't as severe as first thought.
Three weeks before the fight I got a jaw displacement after getting hit by a straight punch in sparring. Because of that, I had to stay away from striking sparring until last Tuesday.
I woke up with a fever and asked my manager to cancel the fight. But remembering it was a main event, I reconsidered, and decided to fight in respect with UFC and my fans.
