Conor McGregor will return to the UFC octagon on 11 July in Las Vegas. UFC president Dana White announced that McGregor will face Max Holloway in the main event at UFC 329 at the T-Mobile Arena. The bout is scheduled at lightweight/welterweight. McGregor last fought in July 2021, when he broke his leg against Dustin Poirier. He debuted in 2013 and became a major star, winning the UFC lightweight title in 2016 while holding the featherweight crown, making him the first fighter to hold two UFC belts simultaneously. He has fought only four times in MMA since winning the lightweight title, losing three. His planned fight with Michael Chandler in June 2024 was canceled after a broken toe in training. A civil court in Ireland found him liable in a rape case in 2018, and he accepted an 18-month ban for whereabouts failures that expired in March.
