"Hi everyone. Now that it's been a couple weeks since my release, I've had some time to kind of get back into things, get back into a normal way of life, get used to just doing the normal things, being home with the family, being there for my kids. And I just wanted to thank everybody for their love and support."
"You have no idea what your words and your encouragement and your love has meant to me and my family. So just thank you. I'll keep doing the work to get back to everyone. And just for myself now, just slowly get back out there without- I didn't want to overwhelm myself with the pace of life."
Cain Velasquez, 43-year-old former UFC heavyweight champion, has released his first statement following his prison release last month. He pleaded no contest to attempted murder charges stemming from a February 2022 incident in Santa Clara County, California, where he engaged in a freeway chase, rammed a vehicle, and shot an unarmed man. Velasquez was attempting to target Harry Goularte, who faces felony charges related to lewd acts involving Velasquez's son. Instead, Velasquez shot Goularte's stepfather. Sentenced to five years, Velasquez secured early release after serving his time and remains on probation. In his video statement, Velasquez thanks supporters for their encouragement and expresses his focus on readjusting to normal family life and gradually reintegrating into society at a manageable pace.
