B.J. Penn, 46, was arrested on November 4, 2025 and charged with third-degree assault; he was released on a $1,000 cash bond. Police responded at 1 a.m. to an assault report at a residence on Kanoa Street in Hilo, where a 45-year-old male victim reported that Penn punched and kicked him multiple times; the victim later sought treatment at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Penn’s initial court appearance is scheduled for December 2, 2025 at the Hilo District Court. This arrest is Penn’s sixth of 2025; earlier incidents include a restraining order filed by his mother, who stated concerns about Capgras delusional syndrome. Penn is a former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion and a UFC Hall of Fame member.
