Alex Pereira is set to defend his light heavyweight title against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313. Pereira believes he can compete effectively on the ground, having trained wrestling with former champion Glover Teixeira. He acknowledges the challenge posed by the elite grappler Ankalaev but asserts that if Ankalaev cannot grapple for the whole fight, it will shift to striking, where Pereira holds an advantage. Both fighters have impressive records, with Pereira recently winning his title and Ankalaev unbeaten in his last 13 fights.
"Let's see if he can stand for 25 minutes," Pereira told New York Post Sports. "If he can't grapple me for 25 minutes, then he's gonna have to stand up. And we all know how that's gonna go."
