"Susurkaev had just scored a first-round knockout on "Dana White's Contender Series" and earned a UFC contract. Naturally, he was in the mood to celebrate, so he went straight from the UFC Apex to Herbs & Rye steakhouse. But when the waiter came to take Susurkaev's order, his team reminded him the UFC was working furiously to book him a fight at UFC 319 in Chicago on Saturday -- four days later."
Baisangur Susurkaev, a 24-year-old from Chechnya, earned a UFC contract after a first-round knockout on Dana White's Contender Series. He celebrated immediately, traveling from the UFC Apex to Herbs & Rye steakhouse. His team warned that the UFC was pursuing a fight for him at UFC 319 in Chicago four days later, so they advised against heavy food. Manager Jamie Gall suggested salmon, then allowed a plain, unsalted steak. Susurkaev had been working as a food delivery driver less than a month before signing. His manager contacted business partner Dave Martin, who had been communicating with the UFC about a potential card opening and awaited a response.
