"We should not have to beg to be invested in," said Susana Rojas, an executive committee member of the Latino Task Force. "We are a community that gives so much to the city. We are asking today [for the city] to invest in our health, to make sure that we continue to have community sites."
The city delayed funding for the vaccination site due to a scoring error in the contracting process, leaving the Latino Task Force scrambling for resources.
The Latino Task Force held a press conference on Nov. 15, criticizing the Department of Public Health for their lack of support, which led to a promise of more vaccines.
With only three weeks left until shutdown, the Latino Task Force and its partners are actively fundraising to cover operational costs for their local vaccination site.
