The U.S. has recently experienced a spate of aviation accidents, raising fears about flight safety among the public. A major collision in Scottsdale, Arizona, led to one death and three injuries, following several other incidents including a fatal crash in Alaska and a mid-air collision near Washington, D.C. Despite these tragedies, officials emphasize that air travel is statistically the safest transportation method. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy reassured travelers with FAA statistics showing high flight volumes and low accident odds, urging that these incidents shouldn't be interpreted as an industry crisis.
"Air travel is the safest form of travel in the country. So you can travel and feel good about it on American airplanes," said Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.
According to the FAA, an average of 45,000 commercial and private flights take off each day in the U.S., carrying 2.9 million passengers.
