World's largest iceberg is falling apart, satellite images reveal
Briefly

The world's largest iceberg, A23a, measuring over twice the size of Greater London, has begun to fragment in the South Atlantic Ocean. Recent satellite imagery shows a significant chunk, approximately 31 square miles, has broken off. Oceanographer Andrew Meijers from the British Antarctic Survey noted uncertainty regarding its future stability. Experts are worried it may disrupt wildlife in South Georgia, as past experiences indicate that mega-icebergs often break apart quickly once they start losing mass. The iceberg, weighing around one trillion tonnes, is advancing northward at 30 miles per day.
This is definitely the first significant clear slice of the iceberg that's appeared... it's really hard to say if this is going to blow apart now.
For every bit of the iceberg above the water's surface, there's 10 times more below... other mega-icebergs had fallen apart quickly once they started losing big pieces.
