A fatal incident occurred this morning at the Tayto Snacks facility in Ashbourne, Co Meath involving an employee of an independent potato supplier. Gardaí and emergency services responded promptly and the company is assisting gardaí with their inquiries. Tayto Snacks will work closely with all parties, including the Health & Safety Authority. The company states that site safety and wellbeing are highest priorities and that the next of kin have been informed. Managing director John O'Connor expressed devastation and sympathy. The factory employs around 300 people and produces Tayto, Hunky Dorys, King and O'Donnell's crisps.
