Winds bring blazing Plymouth fire near homes
Briefly

"The first-arriving companies made a quick decision to call for backup and having all that manpower made all the difference," Chief Neil Foley said in the statement. "[Additional crews] were able to contain the fire to the outbuildings and avoid the occupied structures."
Cold and windy conditions fueled the fire and came close to endangering homes near Alden Street, according to a statement from the Plymouth Fire Department, but firefighters were able to intervene, preventing it from spreading.
Upon arrival just after 7 p.m., Plymouth responders encountered 'heavy fire' in a two-story garage building behind 14 Alden St., the statement said. The crews immediately struck a second alarm, calling for more resources.
An unprecedented number of wildfires have burned across Massachusetts in recent weeks in large part due to a combination of weather and drought conditions.
