Russian drones and missiles increasingly violate central and southeastern European airspace, with frequent incidents in Poland, Moldova and Romania. Several drones exploded in southeastern Romania, prompting village evacuations. Russia appears to be directing drones toward neighbors of Ukraine. A massive attack on December 6 deployed more than 700 drones and missiles, damaging and destroying power plants across Ukraine and causing widespread outages. Moldova’s power grid was threatened, prompting Moldelectrica to request emergency electricity from Romania to stabilize the system and avert a blackout. Authorities urged citizens to reduce electricity use during peak morning and evening hours. Experts warn Russia factors indirect cross-border damage into its attacks and is testing EU and NATO reactions.
