Wheelchair user 'lucky to be alive' after hit-and-run in supermarket carpark: 'My stoma bag ruptured from the force'
Briefly

Jim Hosford-Lynch described the moment of impact, stating, "Some of the witnesses said that it sounded like someone hitting a biscuit tin. They brought me on to the footpath and I could smell an odour and my stoma bag had ruptured. I had nowhere to clean myself in a sterile environment."
Reflecting on the hit-and-run, Jim expressed his disbelief, saying, "It is the height of lunacy (that someone would do that). Put it this way if it were not I... if it were a lady with a child in a pram he would have carried the pram down the road. I am very lucky to be alive."
Jim emphasized the illegal driver's recklessness, noting, "There are speed bumps on either side of the pedestrian crossing and he mounted the speed bumps, hit me and went over the second one and disappeared. About five other people were about to cross the road when I did and had a lucky escape."
