We Tasted Through the New Buffalo Trace Prohibition Collection
Briefly

The Buffalo Trace Prohibition Collection #2, part of the distillery’s legacy since 1775, pays tribute to the legal whiskey production during Prohibition. This annual limited-edition series features five unique whiskeys, crafted using archival inspiration rather than historical recipes. Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley expresses excitement about reviving historic labels while blending them with high-quality modern whiskey production practices. While the yeast remains unchanged from the Prohibition era, the process focuses on pairing flavorful spirits with the stories behind their historic names, exemplifying Buffalo Trace’s commitment to quality and heritage.
"Over the last 240 years, we've been making whiskey, and this is a paying homage to the work that these guys did during Prohibition," says Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley. "Bringing great labels back to life is exciting for us."
"We're making really good whiskey today," Wheatley says. "We're blending that with these time-honored labels that we have in our history at the plant. The fun thing that we had to do was go into our archives of millions of barrels and pick out the whiskeys that match the stories of these labels."
