Hannah Leonard, a 22-year-old from Bray, Co Wicklow, underwent emergency surgery to remove part of her skull after being hit by a car while training for the Dublin Marathon. She has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin for further recovery.
Kevin Leonard expressed the emotional relief of returning to Ireland after being in Sicily for over 100 days, stating, ‘We are so happy to be back in Ireland and for Hannah to continue her healing journey.’
Mr. Leonard highlighted the medical care Hannah received in Sicily, stating they are 'forever grateful to the nurses and doctors in Catania,' praising their dedication to Hannah's well-being during her hospitalization.
He emphasized the importance of getting Hannah into the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dún Laoghaire, where she 'needs to be to continue her recovery,' signaling hope for her rehabilitation process.
