Investigators are examining the causes of a collision between a military helicopter and a passenger airplane in the Potomac River, the deadliest U.S. aviation accident in 16 years. Human error appears to have played a significant role, highlighting persistent challenges such as shortages in air traffic controllers and pilots, as well as possible coordination issues between military and civilian aviation. Witness accounts suggest the helicopter may have collided with the passenger jet just before landing, resulting in a catastrophic explosion and loss of life, with investigations ongoing.
Eighty percent of aviation accidents worldwide can be attributed to human error, and that is a prime candidate in this case, Marco Chan, a former pilot noted.
In general, globally, after the pandemic, while the passenger number has bounced back quite a bit, I don't think the workforce number has caught up, in every aspect of aviation.
