Caleb Duerr, described as violent and dangerous, escaped Plumas County Jail on September 27 but was captured without incident after returning home on Thursday.
The sheriff's office received a tip about Duerr's location, leading them to his residence in Johnsville, California, where he was apprehended.
Plumas County Sheriff's Office coordinated with other agencies, including the Sacramento County and Washoe County Sheriff's Offices, to safely arrest the escaped inmate.
Duerr, who has a history of serious charges such as domestic violence and sexual assault, is now back in custody and being held without bail.
