The village of Zafferia, located in Northern Sicily, Italy, is currently the central hub for intense clean-up operations following devastating floods. Emergency services, including firefighters and rescue workers, are actively engaged in clearing mud and securing areas to make them safe for residents. The crisis has also led to rescue operations beyond Zafferia, targeting nearby towns like Mili, Altolia, Cumia, and Ponte Schiavo, which have also suffered from landslides. A notable saving effort included the rescue of four motorists trapped in an underground train during the floods.
