The lack of communication from Iarnród Éireann has left many commuters stranded, as cancellations and faults emerged without timely notifications. A total of 80 individuals were left standing on platforms without prior notice and those needing alternative transport faced confusion over bus ticket honors.
Wicklow TD Jennifer Whitmore highlighted the chaos when stating that the 5:50am service from Gorey was cancelled but only announced after 6:10am, exacerbating the situation for commuters.
The disruption impacted not only local commuters but also those travelling from Dublin who faced delays. Adequate notice could have allowed for alternative travel arrangements, reducing the strain on those affected.
Wicklow town station's doors were shut, causing more frustration as commuters found the station master outside delivering the news of no trains, leading to wasted time and money.
