An international coalition of law enforcement agencies has taken down two major hacking forums, Cracked and Nulled, alongside related cybercriminal services. These platforms had millions of users trading illicit tools and stolen information, generating significant revenue. Prosecutors revealed that the data compromised by these forums impacted at least 17 million Americans, with one victim suffering severe harassment through credentials obtained illegally. The goal of this operation is to disrupt the methods and tools used in cybercrime, thereby reducing its proliferation.
Since 2018, the Cracked forum alone boasted over four million users trading in cybercriminal tools, generating around $4 million in revenue.
A cybercriminal entered a victim's username into a tool from Cracked, accessing their credentials to conduct harassment via demeaning messages.
