The community of Cameron, located in the Navajo Nation, faces unsettling risks as trucks will haul up to 10 loads of uranium daily through their area, raising profound safety concerns amidst typically treacherous roadway conditions, including narrow lanes and poor visibility.
Now, a mining company near the Grand Canyon has permission to haul as many as 10 truckloads a day of uranium ore along "Killer 89."
"Safety is definitely a concern," Yazzie said. "Particularly the safety of our people."
