West Sussex County Council has spent two years on an Oracle ERP project, which started with a £2.6 million budget, now expected to reach nearly £40 million.
An independent audit highlighted the council’s failure to establish a fully costed plan or manage its Oracle ERP project effectively, leading to significant delays.
The council’s replacement of its SAP system initiated in 2019 is now not projected to go live until December 2025, significantly behind schedule.
The external audit by EY revealed ongoing problems with the Oracle ERP project, including inadequate contractual arrangements with the systems integrator DXC.
