Briefly

Taiwan has opened its financial markets, schools, and businesses after Typhoon Kong-rey's devastation, despite ongoing weather concerns, particularly for the Matsu and mountainous areas.
Typhoon Kong-rey was the largest storm to strike Taiwan in nearly 30 years, causing two fatalities, over 500 injuries, and significant transport disruption across the island.
Reports of localized flooding and mudslides have emerged post-typhoon. An official confirmed four flooding cases and three mudslide reports, including one near a tunnel.
The storm resulted in extraordinary damage, uprooting trees and causing chaos, particularly noted by Pan Li-chu, a restaurant owner, who described the uprooted banyan tree.
