Two men charged with attempted murder in Dublin
"Craig Hayes (27), from Cushlawn Park, Tallaght, and Jason Dunne (35), from Cedarbrook Place, Ballyfermot, are both accused of attempting to murder Thomas McDonnell at Cookstown Cottages, Cookstown Lane, Tallaght, on December 3, 2021. Garda Conor Harrison told Judge Deirdre Gearty that Mr Hayes was arrested at 7am at Cushlawn Park and later charged by Sergeant Gemma Collins at 9.46am. He told the court the accused made no reply when cautioned. Detective Sergeant Seamus Palmer, from Tallaght Garda Station, said Mr Dunne was arrested at 11.28am and brought to Tallaght Garda Station, where he replied "no comment" when charged and cautioned by Sergeant Collins."
"Defence solicitor, Michael Hennessy, was granted legal aid for Mr Hayes after the court heard the accused man was not working. Defence solicitor John Shanley was also granted legal aid for Mr Dunne. Given the seriousness of the charge, the case will not be dealt with at District Court level. There was no application for bail and both men were remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on October 14 at 10am via video link."
