Two explosions in southern Stockholm, including one in Bagarmossen that damaged an apartment building, have prompted police action, resulting in arrests of suspects linked to previous cases. This marks the 30th explosion in Sweden this year and raises concerns over gang violence, particularly involving blackmail against business owners. While there was a decrease in explosions and shootings in 2024 compared to the previous year, the overall crime trend remains a challenge for law enforcement in the Nordic region.
Shortly thereafter officers managed to arrest two people in the area, who were already wanted in connection with another cases. We suspect that these people are involved.
The Bagarmossen explosion is the 30th explosion in Sweden since the turn of the year. The previous record for the most explosions in a single month was 22.
Several of the latest incidents are believed to be linked to the blackmailing of business owners.
The number of explosions decreased in 2024, according to police figures, as did the number of deadly shootings.
