Kate Duggan, the chief executive of Tusla, stated that between 2022 and 2024, their agency did not receive any concerns about Kyran's school attendance or education.
Duggan noted that while Kyran was in school, "over the years of 2021 and 2022 we received no referrals of concern, either through our child protection and welfare services or our educational support services."
In early 2024, Tusla staff discovered new information causing concern regarding Kyran's whereabouts, prompting them to connect with An Garda Síochána to address the matter.
Duggan emphasized that the lapse in questioning Kyran's absence from 2022 to 2024 would be detailed in an upcoming review, which was consulted with An Garda Síochána beforehand.
