While the decision to vote for Donald Trump might signal justifiable anger, it would likely damage your life chances and prove irreversible. His recent rally at Madison Square Garden has made it clear what he intends to do to voters and the country as a whole. For all the faults I see in the Biden administration, voting for Trump would exacerbate existing injustices and risks pushing us further into a life-sapping neoliberal agenda.
Both major parties have, for decades, allowed the value generated by the middle and working classes to be captured by the very rich, resulting in an ongoing crisis of inequality. While there have been some improvements with Joe Biden, significant improvements under any administration seem unlikely without addressing the fundamental flaws in our political and economic systems.
Trump’s rhetoric during his rally suggests an alignment with some of the most dangerous policies imaginable. His admiration for Netanyahu’s approach to Gaza, coupled with threats to withhold aid from Ukraine, could lead to catastrophic outcomes, possibly making peace even more unattainable. The dangers of a Trump presidency are undeniably more severe than the current administration, even if that administration is far from perfect.
For all their faults, Biden and Harris still attempt to shield the people of the United States from the harsh realities of capitalism. Trump, on the other hand, embodies its worst aspects: the greed, the lies, the rip-offs, and likely policies that would only exacerbate national and global crises.
