Trump just rebranded the U.S. Digital Service as 'DOGE'
Briefly

President Donald Trump has renamed the U.S. Digital Service (USDS) to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) via executive order. This move repurposes USDS's brand and infrastructure to enhance the efficiency and modernization of federal government IT systems. Each federal agency is directed to form their own DOGE teams consisting of various specialists who will work on software modernization initiatives. Launched in 2014 under President Obama, USDS aimed to cut through bureaucratic barriers in federal technology and web design, and it remains to be seen how DOGE will differ in practice.
President Donald Trump has brought the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to life simply by renaming an existing government agency.
The order states that federal agencies will each establish their own DOGE teams made up of a team leader, engineer, human resources specialist, and attorney.
Fast Company reached out to USDS asking if there is a plan to merge the two sites, and it did not respond to request to comment by time of publication.
USDS originally launched in 2014 during former President Barack Obama's administration, and created standards to guide federal web design.
