Trump fires US National Archivist and purges board of the Kennedy Center
Briefly

On February 7, 2023, President Trump dismissed Colleen Shogan from her position as head of the National Archives, making her the first woman to hold that role. Shogan announced her dismissal on LinkedIn, affirming her commitment to her job despite the lack of reasons for her termination. Following this, Trump also dismissed several board members from the Kennedy Center, appointing Richard Grenell as the interim executive director. Shogan's firing is believed to be linked to her agency's actions regarding Trump's handling of classified documents, which previously resulted in a high-profile investigation and raid on his Mar-a-Lago residence.
No cause or reason was cited. It has been an honor serving as the 11th Archivist of the United States. I have zero regrets-I absolutely did my best every day for the National Archives and the American people.
It appears Shogan's firing was retribution for the archives' role in raising the alarm that Trump had taken classified documents, leading to a raid of Mar-a-Lago.
