When the earth shook in Tibet on Tuesday, January 7, Kobusch was in a place that was anything but earthquake-proof... I felt the pressure waves when some seracs collapsed.
Despite the terrifying experience, Kobusch described his tent as relatively safe, saying, 'like on a small balcony, flanked by ice towers to the right and left.'
At least 126 people were killed and 188 others injured as a result of the earthquake, which was located 80 kilometers north of Mount Everest in the Tingri region.
Kobusch is attempting to climb Everest in winter without bottled oxygen, marking his third solo expedition since 2020.
