Three people died while attempting to cross the English Channel in a small boat, marking a tragic event amid an increase in dangerous crossings this year.
'It never stops,' the mayor of Sangatte, Guy Allemand, remarked regarding the relentless nature of these crossings, emphasizing that it's a continuous cycle without any let-up.
Pierre-Henri Dumont, MP, stated: 'Any attempt to cross the Channel in this way is very, very dangerous - but at this time of year, it is even more deadly.' He highlighted the risks posed by the cold temperatures, which increase the danger of spending even a minute in the frigid waters.
According to the IOM, 77 people have died attempting to cross the Channel this year, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation as crossings continue to rise.
