Thousands of homes still without gas - NINE days after water main burst
Briefly

On January 12, a burst water pipe in Muswell Hill caused significant disruption, impacting over 3,000 homes and offices due to water leakage into the gas supply network. Affinity Water fixed the pipe by Sunday, but Cadent Gas reported ongoing issues as engineers pumped out 32,500 litres of water. The restoration of gas service is being conducted in phases, with a goal to return all properties to service by the upcoming weekend. The progress has been slowed by the extent of the flooding and necessary safety checks.
"The remaining properties we will be getting back on gas over the next few days. We do know we will be here for the remainder of the week, but we are not leaving until everyone is back on gas."
"The pressure of the water affected the gas pressures in the gas network and that is why progress is slower than expected."
