This Sunday - Watch English Civil War soldiers march along The Mall
Briefly

An annual reenactment ceremony in central London pauses to honor King Charles I's execution, known as the 'Horrid Murder', carried out by volunteers in period attire. This event, which takes place on the Mall, marks its 53rd year and includes a march, a religious service, and the honoring of participants with awards. The ceremony not only remembers a significant historical event but also serves as an educational effort through the English Civil War Society, which conducts research and reenactments of 17th-century events throughout the summer.
This coming Sunday morning, you could watch several hundred people in English Civil War attire march along the Mall in central London. This is a ceremony to remember the 'Horrid Murder' of King Charles I in 1649.
The soldiers of this modern recreation of the Royalist Army of the English Civil Wars are all volunteers and will be clothed and equipped the same as their forebears 380 years ago.
They will start forming up around 11am, so feel free to wander around on the north side of The Mall as they arrive and get ready.
A wreath, which 'Remembers His Majestie's Horrid Murder', is then trooped around the whole army before being taken by the honour guard through Horse Guards Arch.
