The United States, home to less than 5% of the global population, owns over 45% of the world's civilian firearms, showcasing its unique gun culture.

In 2022, the arms and ammunition industry generated over $90 billion in economic output, supported by more than 3,700 active gunmakers across the country.

Illinois stands out in gun manufacturing, producing 607,716 firearms in 2022, or approximately 4.5% of all domestic production, with rifles being predominant.
