A woman from Mayo, now 35, reported sexual abuse she suffered at age five by Pat Salmon in 1995. She came forward in the summer of the previous year and told her family and gardaí. For the first time in 30 years she is looking forward to Christmas. Salmon, aged 89 and living in Rockfield, Knock, Co Mayo, was sentenced to three years in prison for five sexual assaults against her in 1995. Salmon had positioned himself as a "pillar of the community" and tried to use religion to explain away his crimes.
